Our Cuisse Belt is constructed using 12 ounce bridle leather including the straps. We use the bridle leather to give a comfortable fit while being durable and long lasting. We stock these in Black, Medium Brown and Dark Brown.

The leather is cut from 2 pieces of leather and joined in a circular fashion to better fit the human body. Once the belt is on, your hips keep it from pulling down as does a regular belt. With this design, the weight of your leg armor is distributed evenly and reduces fatigue. We have not found a more comfortable design for leg armor.

When measuring for the belt, measure at the waist snug, at the top of your hip bones. We will allow for adjustment + and -. All Hardware is made of Stainless Steel or Solid Brass and riveted with solid copper rivets and burrs. This is one tough belt. If you will supply us with the size of your buckles on your leg harness, we will match up the straps to them.  If connecting maille chasses to the belt, we will punch holes and supply lacing for you as well.

We found a picture of this design in Techniques of Medieval Armour Reproduction: The 14th Century by Brian R. Price and liked it. We then adjusted it to our needs and added it to our line.

When measuring for these belts, measure at your waistline at the top of your hips.  The belt is 3 1/2" wide and will conform to your hips and body.  We will leave ample adjustment + and - for you.  Just think of where the belt will ride when you have your leg armor attached and give us that measurement. 

Due to the amount of leather needed to produce these belts, we will have to charge a small upcharge for larger fighters.
